Sunday's performance at Republic Poly

Please report at 8.45 SHARP, clad in your full syf attire, and don't forget to bring a band T along as well. All dyed hair should be dyed black by that day, or you'd have to get the dye immediately and get your hair dyed black on the spot. No negotiation.

Sec ones, you'd have to report at 8.45 too. Your attire would be your school uniform. Your attendance is compulsory.

Please be responsible and do not skip the performance. Each and everyone of you counts. Absentees would not be accepted without a valid reason. We need either parent's letter, or an MC if you're unfit to join us or you'd get yourself into trouble.

Dear skyband,

Wednesday's practise is from 9am-11am. Please report 15 minutes earlier. Those who've got your hair dyed, PLEASE GET IT DYED BACK BY WEDNESDAY, you know who you are. Those whose attire that are of unsatisfactory would get yourself into trouble. I believe our members have got the ability to make a distinction of what's right & what's wrong, so please do something about it.

Secondly, please pay up for your syf photo & band camp latest by wed. Late payments for the photo would not be accepted, & you'd not get the photo.

Sunday's schedule would be updated ASAP, please keep in close connection with the blog.

Dear skyband,

Now that we've got two good pieces like seventh night of july & POTO, please practise!

There're certain things you gotta take note of. During sectionals, you're only supposed to practise Seventh night & POTO (Not pirates of the caribbean please), please obey by the rules & do not practise any other pieces. Otherwise acts of punishment would be induced upon.

Section leaders, youre not appointed a section leader for nothing. Your job, is to lead your section & help your section mates (musically) when they're in doubt. Your responsibility is also to lead your section with every piece of music. You're supposed to be teaching them individually if they're in doubt, then to make sure everyone is ready before you start to combine the entire section together, & the music should be ready in the band room when the conductor steps in.
You're supposed to lead your section, not to countdown with your section mates for the ending of sectionals.

Every small part played by different individuals can make a humongous difference.

Don't practise it just for the sake of practising, for the sake of time to pass quickly, or for the fear of receiving punishments. Do it with a mindset of correcting, with the mindset of pursuing perfection (yes, cliched, i know), with the mindset of being able to perform with pride & satisfaction that youve not been lazing around, that youve been striving hard at trying to achieve something. Do it with the awareness that you are contributing to a big part of the music. Correct every bar before moving on to the next bar, with the willpower to the destination of excellence within every part of your music.

Music is not easy, i know, that's why you need effort, attitude, & discipline as well. Being a band member is easy, being a band member with that above, isn't. No one is ever that perfect yet, so everyone improves, grows, & learn.

Ive seen everyone of us at our best before, so i believe we can be at our best anytime. (: Keep going on!

One day, one very fine day, we'd see us in glory. Never give up polishing the shoe & one day it'd shine.

*I'm sorry. Once i start, its difficult to stop*
